Jilab is a privately owned spin-off company founded by prof. Jorma Isola (University of Tampere, Finland). Research and development of Jilab's products and services is based on academic research done at the Laboratory of Cancer Biology.

Jilab's focus is currently on celiac disease drug trials — the company has been performing pathology contract services in several drug trials since 2016. Jilab also develops and produces microscope scanners and digital pathology software, and provides routine diagnostic services (immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization).
